Family Update

So much has happened since my last post...we found out we were pregnant again, friends of ours got married, my sister got married, Josh went to Cancun for Thanksgiving and we found out this morning we are having another girl.

I will try and scan in the ultrasound photo to see if I can post.

Weddings and One More Milestone!

My brother got married on Saturday to one of the sweetest girls ever. We had a great time but, did not take very many pictures. So, here is one of me and my sisters. As I get more pics I will put them up here.

One more milestone...

Emma may have been feeling a little left out of the festivities because, as I was getting my hair done across town, she took her first steps at the hotel! There were witnessed by Josh and I did get to see her do it again a couple times on Sunday. She has yet to show everyone at day care but, in a few weeks we expect her to be fully mobile.

So, I will get over the fact that this post involves a large picture of my ass and share this little tid-bit with all of you. This photo makes me laugh out loud (lol for you texters out there). Last night I was getting Emma's bath ready and she was so excited she had to be a part of it. Josh, of course, was ready with the camera to capture this moment.

This photo is for those moms out there that know sometimes it feels as if your children want to crawl back in.

I promise the next post will include cuter, more flattering photos of the Waldman clan.

Old Dog...New Tricks

Food Processing

I used my food processor tonight for the first time for something other than latkes! I made homemade breakfast bars with oatmeal, shredded apples, orange juice, dates and walnuts. They were super easy but, I needed the food processor because I was not going to shred the apples by hand. I think they are delicious but, we will see how Emma likes them in the morning. The beauty of her being old enought to eat pretty much anything is that even if she won't eat them, I will.

OK so, Emma is not exactly one year but, I wanted to get some good photos of her. So, when she woke up at 5:30 this morning I thought, "Hey, why not! What the heck else is there to do." Some came out okay but, mind you I took about 200 photos. We were both a little sick of each other after that so, I am blogging and she is watching Baby Einstein.

I realized that once I had a child I would be taking tons of photos but, I was hoping to get better at it. I can never seem to capture her sweet little smile or, the proud smile when she realizes that she is standing. She seems to mostly look annoyed, confused or is looking away. Well, judge for yourself...

Second Annual Bert & Ernie Invitational

They say good things come in pairs and that could not be a more factual statement this summer as we are pleased to announce the Second Annual Bert & Ernie Invitational - a camping party extravaganza. That is right we survived the first party and are coming back for more.

As the sun goes down the party heats up. Bring your tent because it is suggested that you stay the night unless you have a qualified DD. Enjoy the campfire, swimming, fishing, meeting new friends and sharing in breakfast the next morning.

DISCLAIMER: Families and kids of all ages are welcome but Bert & Ernie cannot guarantee appropriate behavior by all guests at all times. As the night continues the atmosphere will become more adult.

It is a midsummer night's dream as the Borer backyard is transformed into the Bert & Ernie Invitational, a carefree camping extravaganza beginning at 2 p.m. and lasting until breakfast the next day. The focus is on music, relaxation and fun.

Guests are treated to a variety of activities from swimming, sunning, bean bag toss, bocce ball, horseshoes and any other outdoor games the human mind can invent.

Bert & Ernie love to share with others. Food will be provided. Beer (Coors Light) and water will also be plentiful, but if you want another substance to consume it is recommended that you come prepared.

Two Rules
1. Kindergarten Rules Apply. Be considerate of others, say please and thank you, and disrobe if you like!

2. No drinking and driving.

I felt it necessary to post an adult story to the blog. Get your minds out of the gutter, it isn't that kind of "adult" story.

Some Backstory...
Josh and I went to the Dave Matthews Band concert last week and we arrived in the parking lot a brief four hours before the show began to tailgate. We set up all of our stuff and began to meet our neighbors and play some horrible cornhole (again, get your minds out of the gutter it is just bean bag toss).

The Setup...
Some of our neighbors were playing Flip Cup (six on six) and needed some others to join to complete one of the teams. Josh and I, being the social animals we are were all about it. However, they played "Survivor Style" which allowed the winning team to vote off one of the losing teams members. The person voted off left but, there cup remained. As the game progressed, if you won you could choose to bring a team member back or vote off a member of the losing team.

Epic...
There we are, our team struggling and it ends up six on one. That is six strangers vs. me, Andrea. Cup by cup (my six cups to them having one each) I took them down. Now, if you have played Flip Cup you know that is no small task. The other team refused to admit defeat therefore I strategically began bringing my teammates back. As the team begins to rebuild one by one I have to take a "breather". Which consists of a large bottle of water, some deep breaths and sitting on the back of the car. When I regain composure I walk back over to the game in time to see that Josh is now about to take on the rest of the other team. I don't know what it was about the other team but, they just kept winning. Josh however takes them to the cleaners and demolishes their team, six on one. We were unstoppable.

Summary...
Long story short, on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 The Waldman's ruled Flip Cup in East Rutherford, NJ Izod Center parking lot.

The concert was great too and if either of us were capable of operating the camera that night I would have a picture to commemorate the festivities.

Ready For Summer

Today was one of the nicer days we have had in a while and that isn't saying much. At least the sun was out today. Everyone is antsy for some nice weather and Josh is ready for the end of the school year. We have a busy summer coming up. I can't believe it is already Easter and Passover. Emma is going to try her first Matzah tonight! Here is a picture of her in her summer shades. This was snapped quickly before they were ripped off her head and thrown across the room.

In Emma's adventure of trying new foods, she tried ribs for the first time. Well, Josh ate them and she sucked the meat off the bone. It was so cute and she loved it. We have decided that if we are out to dinner that someone has to order ribs just so that she can snack on them. After she dropped the first one on the floor she started crying.

So many things to update you all on! We've had a stomach bug (all of us, I think Josh had it twice), a trip to Denver, a wedding and a trip to the WNIT for the lady Orange.

Now that I have you caught up on us, I know you want to hear about Emma. She is not crawling yet but, it could be any day now. She is so cute when she just sits on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. If we lay her on her stomach, she goes backwards.

She is adorable and getting bigger everyday. She is now wearing 12 month and some 18 month clothes and is in a new, big-girl car seat. It will morph as she grows and be her last car seat (if we can keep it in one piece). It is so funny to see her look so small in the seat.

She wore her cheerleading outfit on Friday to kick off the SU Men's team trip to the NCAA. I will post pictures next!

First of Many

Tomorrow is an epic day in Emma's life. It will be her first Syracuse home basketball game. And to add to the excitement, it is a Syracuse vs. Georgetown showdown. Epic doesn't begin to describe it. The anticipation she feels was evident in her 4:30 AM wake-up call. Or, maybe she woke up crying because in her dream A.O. was shooting free throws. Don't worry Emma, I know a grown man who cries every time he sees the big guy go to the line.

Her orange Syracuse T-shirt is laid out in preparation. She is only wearing that shirt because I couldn't find one that said, "Your Mommy's A Hoya". I am still weighing the options of grabbing a magic marker and transforming the T-shirt myself. With my child-like handwriting it may come off as kind of cute.

I thought I would add to this post a picture of Emma (with Sally of course) giving me her best, "Don't mess with me" face.

It has been a while since our last post and we are all doing great! Emma is sitting and grabbing for toys and babbling away. No actual words yet but, she loves to hear the sound of her own voice. I wonder who she gets that from? Emma loves playing Peek-A-Boo! She has popped her first tooth, a bottom front one. I can't yet grab a photo of it. The first tooth was followed very shortly by her first ear infection. We felt so bad for our little Emmers. She was in pain and we couldn't figure out which was worse, the tooth or the ear infection.

Tonight we have my mother's 60th birthday celebration and we have a sitter and everything. WooHoo! Emma is taking her one super long nap of the day right now. Double WooHoo!

A Star Is Born

Emma had her first photo shoot and she loved every minute of it. The photographer said that Emma was such a ham and she could just sit and shoot photos of Emma all day. It helped that the photographer had an awesome camera and that Emma was infatuated with the strap that hung down. Emma made her first trip to Denver. She got to see her Nini Waldman, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins again as well as meet some people for the first time. She flew there without incident and on the way home even received her first set of wings from a flight attendant.

She is sitting on her own and loving every minute of it. Both Josh and I have fought off Strep throat and a nasty head cold. As of yet, Emma has come out unscathed. Let's hope it stays that way.

We Are Truly Thankful

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving with Emma and it was wonderful. Seeing her growing and changing is such a delight. She wore a pretty dress from Nini Waldman and her bib from Aunt Michelle. We spent the day and night at my parents' house and had a great time. All the food was so delicious. Even Emma had baby squash and rice cereal for dinner...DELISH! She is so sweet and innocent. We feel so sorry for her when her gums hurt from teething and she starts to cry. It really does tug at your heart. Thank goodness for Baby Orajel!

I am dragging at work because Claudia and I were up at 5am to do some Christmas shopping. I know that it sounds crazy but, we were really productive and it wasn't half bad. Will we do it again next year? Who knows.

Yup, that's right, Emma has rolled over! A few months ago she mastered rolling from her stomach to back but, now she is full on rolling from her back to her stomach. She hasn't yet combined the two so, she isn't fully mobile yet. We are sure it won't be long. This photo was taken right after one of the rolls. We make her re-create the trick for anyone and everyone that she sees. You can tell she is really proud of herself!

So, the family has been extremely busy. As you all know, Andrea's sister Michelle is engaged to be married October 2009 well, that is not the only blessing that we are expecting in 2009. Andrea's brother is also engaged and they are planning a wedding in the Summer of 2009. AND Andrea's sister Claudia is pregnant with their third child and due May 9, 2009. OK, no more news, our calendars are full for all of next year. Oh, and stop asking Andrea if she is pregnant.

Emma and I had our first night and morning on our own. Josh attended the Broncos vs. Patriots Monday Night Football game. It goes without saying that Emma and I had a better night than Jay Cutler and the Broncos. Emma continues to be a sports jinx because she was wearing her Broncos outfit and they lost. Overall she is now 0-5 and has jinxed the Bills, Broncos (twice), SU Field Hockey Team (before Emma got to them they were undefeated), and the SU Football Team (Josh says that this is not her fault).

On our night alone Emma held her own bottle for the first time at The Darkhorse Tavern. My phone doesn't have a flash so this photo is really dark but, they don't call it the Darkhorse for nothing! It was Mimi and Grandpa's anniversary but, Grandpa had to work so, we took Mimi out to dinner. Later Emma stuck to her routine of sleeping almost 12 full hours. This makes for a much easier morning for both of us. We will see how the two of us make out the next time we have a morning alone...that is Thursday morning.

First Day

It was Emma's first day of Day Care today. Some tears were shed and the day seemed to drag but, we all made it through the day. Emma seemed more confused than upset about the situation. When Mom and Dad showed up separately for their visits with her she looked at them as if to say, "What are you doing here". She fell asleep in the car on the way home, it was so sweet. We may all struggle a little this week but, should soon settle into a routine.

Emma is ready to watch her first Syracuse Orange football game today. Syracuse takes on Northwestern in the season opener today at noon. Josh is in Evanston with the team working at the game so, Emma and I are planning on watching the game together. We may go up to her Mimi and Grandpa's house and watch it there. She looks a little surprised in this photo but that is because she can't believe The Orange are not favored to win. A new season always dawns new hope and we are positive thinkers. GO ORANGE!

This past weekend the Borer/Kosty/Waldman families hosted the inagural Bert and Ernie Invitational. There was swimming, horseshoes, bocce ball, flip cup and beer pong. We had great weather and it turned out to be a great party. Several people camped and there was even an impromptu late night dance party by the bonfire. Mark your calendars for next year's Bert and Ernie on August 15th. No excuses, you all have the date and you won't want to miss it.

Rollin' and other Firsts...

Emma is a rolling machine. Every time she is enjoying some tummy time she flips right over on her back and giggles. She loves this new found trick. We are amused and proud but, more nervous now so she is strapped tightly into everything and our backs are not turned on her anymore. We are more excited every day to see what new trick she has mastered.

Emma went on her first hike a couple weeks ago and could not stop looking at all the trees and loved the sound of the waterfall. She is an outdoor girl. She even fell asleep on her blanket under a big shade tree last weekend.

Emma meets her Grandpa Waldman for the first time tomorrow night! I can tell that she is excited. His visit is just in time because she has started sleeping through the night, most nights anyway. The big Bert and Ernie Invitational is this weekend and we are all busy getting ready but it is a little sad because this means that our summer is coming to an end with Labor Day just around the corner.

Two Months...Oh My!

We cannot believe that Emma is two months old! She went to the doctor on Tuesday and is a whopping 12 pounds. They said that she is perfect but, we already knew that. We had two days in a row that Emma slept through the night but, we are back to a 4 am wake-up call the past two nights. It is a good thing she is cute! Emma will be meeting a lot of her Great Aunts, Uncles and cousins this weekend at the Borer Family Reunion and she is looking forward to it.

OK so there, now that song is stuck in your head too. Nobody knows what it means but it is sexy and provocative.

We found out that we are having a baby girl! She doesn't have a name yet but, we are narrowing it down. She has already received one marriage proposal and Josh is getting nervous.

Josh's sister Jodi had a baby boy on Thursday night! His name is Jacob Travis and apparently he looks just like his daddy, Dustin. Big sister Madison is so excited. I will post pictures when I get some. We will be out there the first weekend in February to see him and everyone else.

Decisions, Decisions

The date is set and our minds are made up, for now. We will be finding out the sex of the bean on January 10th. Yes, we call the baby "the bean" because that is what it looked like when we saw it at the first ultrasound. To some people this is greatly disturbing but, I guess a lot of the things we do are.

If it is a boy we can start calling it by the name we agree on and if it is a girl we will both be calling it something different because there is no agreement yet. All of our friends and even some strangers have had some wonderful suggestions.

Andrea got to hear the heartbeat again last Wednesday at the doctor, it is such a cool sound! The additional pounds have started to show up and she is easing her way slowly into maternity clothes. A lovely nickname she has taken on is, "The Lorax" due to the fact that she is somewhat oddly shaped like a Dr. Seuss character. However, the "Star-Bellied Sneetch" may be more appropriate.

This beats the hell out of Apple Picking

So, I realize it has been a while since the last post and the Apple Picking post is a little nostalgic now that there are two feet of snow outside. There has been a lot going on in the last few months and Josh and I now ready to disclose our news to the blogging world...WE ARE PREGNANT! Well if you must get technical, Andrea is pregnant. That is it folks, Bump Watch has officialy begun.

We promise not to post ultrasound or bare belly pictures on this blog but, Josh has been fascinated with Andrea's ever-growing stomach and their may be a "Fat Andrea" picture up on this blog every now and again.

So, the logistics are...the baby is due June 9th, we don't know yet if it is a boy or girl and we are not sure if we want to find out yet. We have another couple of months before we need to decide. Andrea is 13 weeks along and feeling fine. Only a few bouts of sickness. She is now really hungry, pretty much all the time. I think that covers all the most common questions... Trust me, in a couple of months, you will be longing for a boring post about Apple Picking.

Apple Picking

So, we took advantage of the beautiful Fall weather, while it lasts, and went apple picking on Sunday! All eight of us piled into two cars and headed towards Beak and Skiff Orchard. It's too bad that everyone else in CNY had the same idea! It's a good thing there were plenty of apples. We got our fair share and now I am dreaming up recipes to put apples in so that they don't go bad. Here are some pictures of the fun day that we had!

Movie Review

Josh and I went to see Super Bad last night and besides it being hysterically funny on its own, something funny happened as we were leaving the theatre. I will recount the entire conversation for you...

Andrea: That was...

Josh: Stop! Before you say anything, I have to get this out in the open.

Andrea: What

Josh: Remember that movie about the stunt man, what was it's name?

Andrea: I have no idea but, noone from that movie was in this one so, what is your point?

Josh: I think the movie's name wash Hot Rod.

Andrea: So, again, what is your point.

Josh: I thought that was the movie we were going to see and I was confused for the first twenty minutes of this movie because of that.

Andrea: (Speechless and laughing hysterically)

Can you believe it folks? Josh confused these two movies. Even when people were suggesting that he see it and I was begging to see it, he thought everyone was talking about Hot Rod. The pictures below should demonstrate my point.

Home Improvements

Lots of changes went on around the Waldman house this summer. Josh has enjoyed changing out all of the old light fixtures and ceiling fans along with all the handles and hinges on all of our doors. He may have had some help with the handles and hinges but, regardless, they look great.

The dogs are overjoyed to have their fence up! They can hardly contain their excitement. We may be happier than they are because it means that we don't have to do 3-4 walks a day.

The overgrowth in the backyard has been trimmed away and Andrea has taken up weeding as a pass time. Now that sounds like a good time doesn't it?

Their may soon be actual furniture in the living room! When there is, we'll post pictures.

Our summer travels took us to the great cities of New York and Boston. We visited with friends, saw priceless works of art, and ate and drank to our hearts content. Well, there is so much to say about our trip to Denver. We were there for a whole week and were able to see a lot of friends and family. Our agenda included a baseball game, lots of niece and nephew time and even a game of "What Time Is It Mr. Fox?". A special Thank You to Josh's mom who took us in and housed and fed us all week. And a note to all of you who said that you would visit...We will be waiting!

Josh and I went to Dover, Delaware with my parents, and our good friends, the Nye's. Unfortunately one couple couldn't make it and they were missed greatly. Love you Donnie and Shelly!

We had a blast watching the trucks on Friday night and went to a great dinner. We watched the Bush race on Saturday from Victory Lane. The big race on Sunday was rained out so, we didn't get to see any NASCAR racing but, had tons of fun and made some great new friends (Hey Steve and Chad!). These pictures are taken in the huge track-side suite that we were in. Having this much fun in Delaware should be illegal.

I wanted to post some pics from Athens. Mom and I had a really good time while everybody in the 'Cuse got a couple feet of snow. It was a lot of fun and we even got front row seats for some students demonstrating in the streets. We saw the Acropolis, Corinth, and learned a lot of history, and even managed to shop a little. OK so, I have been scolded more than once recently for being so delinquent with the blog. So, here it goes...

So many things have happened since my last post. I got a new car (sweet sweet Toyota Rav4), we had our first out of town guests at the new house, I went to Athens with my mom for a week, My sister, brother in-law and their two kids sold their house in MI and moved to Syracuse, Josh was in FLA for ten days, I did some minor remodeling in the guest bathroom, I joined a Bunco group and much much more.

I will post pictures and details later but, I wanted to satisfy those of you who are thirstin' for a little Waldmania.

OK, so I really don't subscribe to the whole, it is a new year so I have to do some big important thing to change my life blah, blah, blah. My life is rosy. So, I resolve not to make it worse. By the way, we had a spectacular time in Denver. It was great to see almost everybody and we had great weather the whole time we were there so, we can't complain. Had to post the sweet group photo from the party that Michael threw on Saturday.

As you can tell, I am fully in the Christmas Spirit or Generic Holiday Spirit for those of you who are easily offended. I have all my shopping done, wrapped and under the tree or traveling in a FedEx box. Cards are written and mailed except for those of you who haven't given me an updated address, you know who you are. Josh and I leave Saturday for Denver and will be there through the 27th. I am so excited but, I am already sad because I know that our visit will be over before I know it. Of course, I will miss Christmas with my family but, we will be celebrating with them on the 27th. I love the double celebration! Anyway, this will probably be my last post before Christmas so, I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season and I will be taking lots of pictures to update you all on the festivities.

MMM...What could be better than Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and gravy on everything. I don't know. Josh and I spent Thanksgiving in Michigan with my sister and her family. Claudia, Matt, Joe and new baby Sophie were the best hosts and we had a delicious meal and a great couple of days in MI. Sophie was baptized on Friday and we all had a great day together. We returned on Saturday and everyone but Josh had the day off on Sunday to recover from the holiday.

Puppies

Sally and Baxter have been doing well, they have gotten into more trouble and been sick more times since we moved than they ever have. Of course they are loving it. They got out on my mom once and were almost gonners. They have eaten, crabapple berries, holly berries, bark, wisteria and that is just the stuff we know about. As you can see from the photo, they have their favorite spots in the house and seem to make themselves at home. It doesn't hurt that they get a treat for everything they do. Anyway, wanted to let you all know that we are doing well and that our two 'kids' are adjusting well.

OK, so I probably shouldn't have been bragging too much about how nice the autumn weather is in my last post. Now that it is gray and rainy and cold out, there is nothing to brag about. The silver lining on all of those clouds is that we closed on our Denver house yesterday! Josh and I are homeless transients. We are hopeful to close on our new home in Syracuse in less than a month. Josh is off to New York City for Big East Media Day on Thursday. It is a quick trip, leaving on Wednesday and returning on Thursday night but, I still wish I could go. We need to plan a weekend in the city soon.

If anyone is actually reading this---throw us a bone and comment already!

Autumn in Central New York

Josh and I enjoyed a fun-filled Fall weekend this past weekend. Friday night I went to a minor league hockey game while Josh had to work and we met up afterwards. Saturday we had friends over to watch the SU game and later took a drive up to the Turning Stone (illustrious site of the Waldman nuptuals). My parents, Josh and I all gambled a little and had a delicious dinner. Suprisingly enough all four of us won! Sunday, Josh, Mom and I all went to Critz Farms for pumpkin picking and a corn field maze. We tackled the corn field maze and enjoyed hot apple cider and apple fritters as a reward. Here are some pictures of us enjoying the festivities. It was a beautiful weekend but, there is a chill in the air and winter is just around the corner...

We found a house!!

Josh and I are the proud owners of a new home! The house is a raised ranch with three bedrooms and two full and one half baths. We are so excited! The pictures are below. There are hard wood floors under all the carpet and a great study. The furniture in the basement rec room will stay so that Josh can have his "Man Town". I didn't post any pictures of the kitchen because we will be remodeling it. The closing papers on our house in Denver will be sent to us on Monday and we are now set to close on this house on December 1st. It may happen sooner if all goes smoothly.

The pictures are in the following order...Exterior (corner lot!), Living Room (hard woods and a fireplace that has never been used!), Dining Room, Study (look at all that storage!), 4-season porch, basement rec room (the 70's decor will remain).

So, if you haven't figured it out yet, I am not the best blogger. Which is pretty sad because the only thing that blogging requires is that you post more than once a month. :( Sad Blogger

Anyway, let me catch you up. Our house in Denver is under contract and set to close on 10-23 (YIPPY!). Cross all of your fingers and toes to hope that this goes through. We are in the process of finding a house here which is proving to be more challenging than we thought.

My mom lost the dogs the other day, for about an hour. Josh and I were in temple and our phones were off so, thankfully, we didn't hear about this until there was a happy ending. Neighbors found Sally and Baxter was taking a jaunt through the woods.

Josh and I have met up with Dusty, a friend of Matt's. Matt lives in Denver and went to college with Dusty. Dusty works as a professor at SU. He seems like a really chill guy.

Went to a fashion show with my mom last night and got to hang out with a friend of mine from highschool.

Well, the excitement never stops!

First Post

Well, we've made it to Syracuse and are both getting adjusted. Josh is finding a groove at work which, most of you know means that he is working 6 or 7 days a week. Andrea is enjoying her work, she is working on several projects at once and loving every minute of it. Living with the parents is starting off well. The dogs love all the land and have taken to chasing deer around the property whenever they get a chance.

GREAT news! Andrea's sister Claudia had a baby girl yesterday, September 1st. Her name is Sophie Marie and she was 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces. She is so cute and Mama and baby are both healthy and resting in Kalamazoo, MI. We'll put pictures up ASAP.
